Position Title: IB MYP and DP Math teacher
Department: Middle and Senior School
Position Group: Faculty
Reports To: Math Department Head
Status: Full time, Maternity leave replacement
Start date: January 2024
Job Purpose:
The job includes collaboratively planning teaching and assessing IB MYP and DP mathematics classes and supporting student learning with a range of instructional and assessment strategies.
Specific responsibilities include:
Teach IB MYP math courses, and perform substitution duties on a regular basis.
Prepare course objectives, lesson plans and outlines for course of study, following ministry and school curriculum guidelines, and deliver program.
Create and administer assessments to evaluate students’ progress, records results, issue reports on progress and communicate results with parents.
Employ classroom management practices including establishing and enforcing student expectations, with basic disciplinary strategies for the creation of an effective teaching and learning environment.
Use technology in the classroom to enhance learning.
Keep up-to-date with developments in their subject areas, teaching resources and strategies and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities
Support the school’s co-curricular programme for students
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications in senior math and science and a Quebec Teaching Licence required
Experience teaching math at the secondary level
Demonstrated ability to employ a wide variety of teaching techniques including utilization of technology and virtual teaching
Collaborative, energetic teacher with demonstrated creativity and passion for teaching
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong professional relationships with students, colleagues, administration, and parents
Exemplary communication, problem solving, negotiation and mediation skills
Concern for the whole student, not just academics
Effective team member
Strong attention to detail, organization and planning
Ability to recognize individual learning styles and the characteristics of learners and to differentiate instruction accordingly.
