Upper School Mathematics Teacher

As a dynamic, engaging, and certified teacher with exceptional relationship-building, communication, and teaching skills you have a passion for teaching boys. Your commitment to your own professional growth is evident in the innovative practices you bring to your classroom and it inspires the development and the growth of your students and your colleagues. Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement, and assess the curriculum for Grade 9 – 12 Mathematics using creative teaching strategies and differentiated instruction
  • Employ innovation and technology in teaching mathematical processes
  • Utilize a variety of strategies to build strong and positive relationships with students
  • Employ effective classroom management practices to establish a positive and engaging teaching and learning environment
  • Act as a mentor to a group of boys by providing support and guidance in group and one-on-one settings
  • Participate in co-curricular activities at least two of the three terms
  • Integrate the School’s mission throughout all curricular and co-curricular activities
  • Attend meetings and professional development opportunities
  • Participate in supervision, duty, and evening and weekend events as required

The successful candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree, B.Ed., and membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
  • A minimum of two years experience teaching Math at the Senior Level, and/or Senior Mathematics qualification
  • Superior skill in teaching the Ontario Mathematics Curriculum is an asset
  • Previous Upper School teaching in a private/independent school is an asset
  • Passion, creativity, and commitment to the role, team, and School mission
  • Superior and demonstrated relationship-building and relational teaching skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to educational excellence, mentoring, and boy-centric teaching pedagogies
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Strong desire to contribute to the co-curricular program and expertise as a coach in at least one sport
  • A growth mindset, curiosity, and willingness to accept new perspectives
  • Compassion, and a desire to cultivate courage and nurture connection
  • A passionate team player and a strong contributor to a coaching culture of growth and flourishing
  • A burning desire to become fully immersed in the School’s positive and progressive culture
