How do TCS students describe their experience in three words? Complete, illuminating, energetic. TCS students appreciate that school needs to be more than just reaching their academic potential – it’s about exploring all facets of themselves so that the realization of passions, talents and skills reach far beyond the classroom walls.
Established in 1865, TCS is one of Canada’s oldest and most respected educational institutions. The School places a balanced emphasis on academics, service learning, athletics and the arts – as both a long-held TCS tradition and a rethought, reinvigorated approach to 21st century education. The School is built on the strength of three pillars: our people, our programme and our place. Within this supportive community, we develop habits of the heart and mind so that our students can become leaders of character, purpose, service and vision.

Academics and Programs
The challenging academic programme at TCS emphasizes a liberal arts philosophy and is designed to give students exposure to many disciplines. In Grades 9 and 10, students are engaged equally in all subject areas. In Grades 11 and 12, they focus more in their areas of concentration, augmented with the option of selecting from more than 20 Advanced Placement courses. Students will develop skills necessary to thrive at TCS, at university, in the workplace and in their community. The School fully embraces technology as an important teaching and learning tool. This allows faculty and students to use laptops in a multitude of ways in and out of the classroom.
Class sizes range from 12 to 20 students which ensures that each student is able to develop positive relationships with teachers and receive personal attention. The faculty takes a team approach to learning and all students are closely monitored and guided. There is a collective understanding that student success is the primary goal.
