What The Dalton School says..
The Dalton School is a warm, stimulating environment where young minds can truly grow and thrive. Our multilingual, multicultural learning environment benefits children in so many ways; opening them up to new ways of thinking, learning, analyzing and perceiving.
The academic and personal development benefits of a dual-language program are far-reaching. There is a proven link between learning multiple languages and academic achievement; in fact, there is no better way to develop the brain than by introducing a second language at an early age.
Understanding the nuances of words in different languages helps develop a capacity for abstract thought, which in turn helps develop math and musical skills. Children who learn several languages have a flexibility and creativity to their thinking that is simply not present in those who only speak a single language.
Children who are exposed to a variety of cultural influences also have an expanded world view from an early age. By understanding different cultures, values and beliefs, they embrace difference, and grow into tolerant, open-minded adults who are completely comfortable in an increasingly multicultural world. The skills developed through learning and understanding different cultures and languages are essential for the leaders of the future.
Overall, our program develops well-rounded children with the skills and confidence to take on future challenges – whatever they may be.
