Vancouver Waldorf School

British Columbia Waldorf Schools have, since their inception, espoused principles of respect for human rights and the diversity of humankind.  Today, all British Columbia Waldorf schools continue to define diversity as a range of racial identifications, ancestries, nationalities, native languages, socioeconomic backgrounds, family structures, ages, belief systems, gender and sexual identities, abilities, appearances, occupations, and political affiliations. Enhancing our diversity is a journey of both moral and educational importance and a learning and growth experience for our whole community.

More..

Urban Academy

At Urban Academy we believe that education is most effective when students are truly engaged in their studies. There is a vibrancy in our classrooms as students connect learning to real life through the arts, technology, sciences and the great outdoors. The results speak for themselves: high academic achievement and talented, confident students well positioned to become the brightest innovators of tomorrow. We operate on the basis that every role and every student is important and we are fortunate to have a strong and committed community of parents walking alongside us. The future of Urban Academy is bright, and we are excited about what the coming months and years mean for our growing school!

What Is An Information Evening?

Admission Information Evenings allow interested families to learn about Urban Academy, our approach to education and what becoming part of the community would look like. These evening sessions are meant for parents only and set for a maximum number of families in order to answer your questions and help you decide if Urban Academy could be the right fit for your child.

An admissions representative and teaching staff will cover our approach to education, academic expectations, the admissions process, financial and volunteer expectations and share some insights about how Urban Academy students thrive at school.

Our Admissions Information Evenings will resume again in the fall of 2019 at our new campus, 466 Rousseau Street in New Westminster on the following dates: December 2nd, January 15th and February 6th all at 7pm. Please RSVP your attendance to [email protected] with the following details:

  1. Date of the session you’d like to register for.
  2. What grade you are interested in, and year of intake.
  3. Your name and email address.

Selwyn House Family Visit

Open House January 20, 2020
More..

Selwyn House School

At Selwyn House School, your son has the benefit of a boys-only education and the advantages of a small-school environment, with limited class sizes and attentive and caring teachers.

An all-boys school provides advantages for your son that he may not experience in a coeducational environment. Some of these benefits include:

1. There are learning differences between boys and girls. Faculty members in a boys-only school are more aware of these differences and cater to your son’s learning style.

2. Teachers can focus on teaching strategies that are known to be better for boys.

3. The curriculum is developed for boys, their learning goals, and their interests.

4. A number of recent studies indicate that single-gender activities raise academic achievement.

5. At an all-boys school, boys have the opportunity to participate in all disciplines: art, music, drama, community service, science, mathematics, and languages.

6. Selwyn House School’s compulsory physical education program provides opportunities for boys to participate in a variety of athletic activities while emphasizing and promoting good sportsmanship.

7. Boys are allowed the space to grow and mature at their own pace. We help them to mature into independent, responsible, respectful, and confident young men.

8. Female faculty members foster positive, respectful attitudes toward women.

9. A lifelong camaraderie develops among the students.

10. Boys do not have to fit into just one role. They are free to explore their aptitudes, talents, and interests all at the same time without being stereotyped.

We invite families to visit Selwyn House School during a typical school day. An enthusiastic student ambassador will take you on a tour, and you will have the opportunity to meet teachers, staff, and parent volunteers.

About Selwyn House

At Selwyn House our objective is to prepare boys to lead balanced and productive personal and professional lives. We know boys. Their potential, energy, dedication and passion are all celebrated; at Selwyn House we take advantage of being able to focus on best practice for boys.

The culture is one of excellence in all areas and this ideal is clearly demonstrated each and every day by our wonderful faculty. I marvel at their passion and their dedication. They are true professionals and together with our students and their parents, they forge strong relationships – relationships we refer to as the triangle of commitments.

St. Margaret's School

Winter Open House January 30, 2020
More..

St. Margaret’s School

St. Margaret’s School (SMS) is the only all-girls school on Vancouver Island, and Canada’s first all-girls STEM school. Since 1908, we have been dedicated to the education, development and well-being of girls. We offer empowering education for all ages, from early childhood to graduation, plus an outstanding boarding program for Grades 7 to 12 that attracts top students from all over the world.

At the core of the SMS learning experience is STEM. Beyond an acronym for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, STEM is an inquiry-based, interdisciplinary educational philosophy centered on question, observation, reflection, and communication. At our school, STEM learning is supported at all levels and across all disciplines. By exposing girls to STEM early and encouraging them as they grow, we hope to inspire a generation of female leaders in traditionally male-dominated fields.
