English and Social Sciences Teacher LTO

We’re looking for a full-time LTO Upper School English and Social Sciences Teacher to join our team, commencing in January, 2023. You’ll be reporting to the Head of Upper School and teaching Grade 10 English and History as well as Grade 11/12 Social Equity and Justice.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Creating a positive educational environment for students with a demonstrated commitment to student development and success;
- Preparing, developing and implementing engaging lesson plans for students, individually and in groups, consistent with the Bayview Glen curriculum and differentiating these plans according to student needs;
- Using a variety of teaching strategies and instructional materials to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including textbooks, visual aids, creative projects and technology;
- Maintaining timely and effective communication with students, parents and colleagues;
- Completing required accurate and confidential record keeping such as student attendance, grades and report cards;
- Establishing effective classroom and behaviour management techniques to maintain a positive learning environment;
- Demonstrating a commitment to promoting a classroom environment dedicated to the BVG “Whole Child, Whole Life and Whole World” educational philosophy;
- Supervising and/or leading co-curricular activities.
What You’ll Need:
- Membership, in good standing, of the Ontario College of Teachers with teaching qualifications at the Intermediate/Senior levels.
- A commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion and demonstrated experience in embedding them in work with students, faculty, and the school community.
- Strong interpersonal, organization, communication, and time management skills.
- A commitment to continued professional growth and development.
- Willingness and enthusiasm to participate in the co-curricular programme and school community.
- Experience in an independent school setting would be considered an asset.
