HR COORDINATOR

We will love you if you are a whiz with a spreadsheet, databases and keeping things organized. You need to be an engineer, adept at building strong relationships, a courageous communicator who is savvy to the nuances of conversation and written material, and of course, a dynamic HR professional with knowledge of all the current legislation. You are committed to your own professional growth and that of others. In a nutshell, you will provide administrative support to the People & Culture function at the School and be involved in interesting HR activities such as: assisting with recruitment, selection and hiring; maintaining electronic and paper records and files; producing reports, spreadsheets and presentations; answering inquiries from a fantastic group of colleagues; scheduling meetings and preparing correspondence; assisting with the preparation of job descriptions and policy changes; and being part of a phenomenal team within a great school!

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the recruitment process by posting vacancies, scheduling interview committees, screening resumes and applicants, participating in interviews as required and conducting reference checks;
  • Coordinate on and off-boarding activities and maintain employee files;
  • Maintain electronic files and records in a variety of spreadsheets and databases including the HRIS and payroll databases, Education Edge and the benefits carrier databases;
  • Process required documents for benefits through payroll and the benefit providers to ensure accurate record keeping and proper deductions for enrolment and changes;
  • Respond to employee enquiries regarding benefits and policies;
  • Provide administrative support to the team by: scheduling meetings;
  • assisting with and preparing correspondence and presentation materials;
  • Participate in projects by gathering and synthesizing information; and
  • Perform other duties in the department and for the School, as assigned.

Competencies & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources management plus 1-3 years relevant experience or equivalent in education and experience;
  • Knowledge of current employment law matters, principles, theories, and techniques related to job classification, job analysis, and job descriptions;
  • Exceptional MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel skills, including the ability to manipulate data using formulas and other advanced functions;
  • Courageous communicator- clearly conveys and receives messages with courage and respect in order to promote engagement and understanding;
  • Commitment to adopting and infusing a sense of joy and humour with a sense of ownership, accountability and dependability;
  • Dynamic community and effective team member;
  • Innovative, agile and creative mindset and models ethics, integrity and confidentiality;
  • Strong sense of professional judgement, time management and problem solving;
  • Good research, analysis, planning, and organization skills with strong attention to detail;
  • Politically and culturally sensitive and able to deliver messages with tact, diplomacy and empathy;
  • Strong written and verbal skills; and
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines while staying grounded and keeping things in perspective.
