Assistant to the Head of Junior School

Trinity College School (TCS) is a leading co-educational boarding and day school for approximately 550 young people from Grades 5-12. Founded in 1865, the School places a balanced emphasis on academics, service learning, athletics and the arts – as both a long-held TCS tradition and a thoughtful approach to 21st century education.

Trinity College School is currently searching for an Assistant to the Head of Junior School to join our Junior School community. The successful incumbenwill be responsible for providing administrative support to the Junior School faculty and staff to ensure the smooth running of the Junior School. The Assistant to the Head of Junior School will receive and assist students and their families in a warm and capable manner. To be successful in his/her duties, the Assistant to the Head of Junior School is expected to maintain a high level of professional competence and confidentiality, and to be knowledgeable of best practices related to his/her areas of responsibility. This is a permanent, full-time position, reporting to the Head of Junior School. July start date and 35-hour work week with possibility of overtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Head of Junior School (report card production, internal and external communications, calendar maintenance, etc.)
  • Support Junior School staff (book field trips & professional development, coordinate student billing, assist in event planning and coordination)
  • Receive inquiries and provide information to Junior School students and their families
  • Offer first aid assistance and oversee health related records
  • Update the database to ensure accuracy of records; maintain and update student records (OSR)
  • Oversee daily student attendance

Requirements & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred
  • Experience working in an environment with adults and young people (aged 10 – 14)
  • Ability to exercise excellent professional judgment, diplomacy and integrity
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting an executive or division head
  • Well-developed communication skills and advanced writing & editing skills
  • Outstanding project management, customer service, multi-tasking & interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, both independently and within a team
  • Strong computer skills & proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Blackbaud, Google Docs and Spreadsheets
